What led you to start your apprenticeship?
I decided to start an apprenticeship in Business Administration because I wanted to gain practical workplace experience while continuing to develop my professional skills. I’ve always been interested in how businesses operate day to day, particularly areas like organisation, communication, customer service, and supporting teams efficiently.
An apprenticeship felt like the best route for me because it combines hands-on learning with recognised qualifications, allowing me to build confidence in a real working environment while progressing in my career. I also wanted the opportunity to develop transferable skills such as time management, teamwork, problem-solving, and administration systems that will benefit me long term"
Please tell us your current job title and what a typical day for you would involve?
My current role is as a Business Administrator, where I provide administrative support across multiple departments within the business to ensure day-to-day operations run efficiently and effectively. My responsibilities include managing and scanning important documentation, processing and organising notices, responding to emails in a professional and timely manner, and handling incoming phone calls while providing excellent customer service.
In addition, I assist with document management, maintain accurate records, and support colleagues with a variety of administrative tasks as required.
How was/is your apprenticeship experience?
Currently, I am thoroughly enjoying my apprenticeship as it provides me with valuable hands-on experience and the opportunity to continuously develop my knowledge and skills within a professional working environment. Each day allows me to learn something new, whether that is improving my administrative abilities, gaining a better understanding of how different departments operate, or developing stronger communication and organisational skills.
What do you enjoy most about doing an apprenticeship?
What I enjoy most about my apprenticeship is the opportunity to work closely with a variety of different departments across the business. This has allowed me to build strong professional relationships with colleagues and gain a deeper understanding of the unique skills, responsibilities, and expertise that each team contributes to the organisation. Being exposed to different areas of the business has helped me broaden my knowledge and develop a greater appreciation for how departments work together to achieve shared goals.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In five years’ time, I see myself progressing further within a Business Administration role, having developed a strong range of skills, knowledge, and experience across different areas of the business. I hope to take on greater responsibilities, contribute more confidently to business operations, and continue supporting teams in an efficient and professional manner.
